in Social Studies in Higher Education.

Co-teaching

We incorporate lived- and knowledge by experience in 9 'Social Studies' courses in 4 European countries. Because we strive for a better education.

Student support

We build qualitative student support in cocreation with all stakeholders. Because it's not fair that students drop out due to mental health challenges.

Institutional change

We work on institutional change where knowledge by experience is part of everything we do because we believe that social justice is the way to go

Why do we do it?

Knowledge & expertise from 'the inside'

Knowledge by experience starts and grows from the lives of people in vulnerable situations, which are shaped by structural inequalities and challenges in society. Their insights and expertise is seen as third form of knowledge

Higher Education & Social Justice

We believe that Higher Education is a place for the development of democracy, citizenship, human rights and social justice. Especially in the field of Social Studies lies a social commitment to participation and inclusion of those Voices that are not heard, seen or valued.

How do we do it?

Co-teaching activities

We believe dat coteaching is an important way to learn students on how to work with lived experience. Even more, coteaching has an influence on professionalisation of staff memebers and the curricula of social studies.

Student support

We believe that student support should acknowledge lived experience.
So, we experimented with five different student support formats.

At the end of the project we will reveal a practice-based framework!

What are we making?

Output

An online handbook with key elements and challenges of
- teamteaching
- formats of student support
- conditions of access to higher education for future students
- a methodological framework to structurally implement knowledge by experience in higher education.
9 updated courses´ curricula with incorporated knowledge by experience
5 webinars about the implementation of knowledge by experience “step by step”
5 support programs for students in vulnerable situations.
